A good cotton kurti should do more than just look pretty in your wardrobe. It should be the thing you reach for on a Monday morning when you have five minutes to get ready, work for a coffee run or a casual lunch, and still feel comfortable by the end of the day. If you’re not sure how to style a cotton kurti, start with jeans. You really can’t go wrong. A pair of straight-leg or relaxed-fit denims instantly makes a printed kurti feel more casual and everyday. Add your favourite sneakers, a pair of hoops and a tote, and that’s pretty much the whole outfit. It’s simple, it works, and you don’t have to spend twenty minutes standing in front of your wardrobe figuring it out.
For days when you want to look a little more put-together, swap the denim for relaxed trousers or linen pants. We especially love neutral shades with printed cotton kurtis — beige, white or cream lets the print stand out while keeping the whole look easy. Add kolhapuris or simple flats, some minimal jewellery and you're good to go. Nothing too dressed up, just a little more polished.
Some kurtis don't really need much styling. If yours already has a beautiful print, handcrafted detail or an interesting silhouette, keep the rest of the outfit simple. A few things are usually enough: minimal jewellery, easy footwear and your everyday bag. That’s it. You don't always need to add more. Sometimes the easiest outfit is the one that looks the best.
This is probably our favourite part about everyday Indian wear. There are no real rules.
